It’s no wonder that the home to the Maryland Wine Festival for more than 30 years, also boasts some of its most award winning vineyards. There is no better pairing for a glass of your favorite hand-crafted varietal than the pastoral grandeur of Carroll County. Delight your palette and feast your eyes as you explore our Wine Trails.

BARN QUILT TRAIL

The Carroll County Barn Quilt Trail is a collaborative project undertaken by the Carroll County Arts Council, the Carroll County Office of Tourism, the Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks and the Carroll County Public Library.

WALKING TOURS

Many of our small towns offer informative walking tours based on architectural building style while also providing some historic information about the site.

CIVIL WAR DRIVING TOUR

The rich farmland of Carroll County skirts the Mason-Dixon Line, denoting North from South. Picturesque and serene, this pivotal county remained relatively unscathed during the two years the Civil War raged here.

BIKING ROUTES

Welcome to biking in Carroll County… where 10 loop tours, consisting of over 150 miles of cycling, offer varying degrees of difficulty. Our bike tours provide the recreational cyclist a unique view of scenic back roads while highlighting scenic stops and historic attractions.

HIKING TRAILS

There are ten public hiking trails within the confines of Carroll County. Since the county’s landscape generally consists of rolling hills, not mountain ranges, each of the hiking areas are accessible to people who are looking for a good workout rather than a steep challenge.
