This is a free\, self guided tour of studios and galleries in every corner of Carroll County. These “hidden gem” artisans provide a wide variety of medium and styles for you to enjoy with family and friends. Many will be demonstrating and all will be happy to answer questions about their work\, workshops and tools. \nReception: Thursday\, May 15 from 5pm – 7pm \nGallery exhibits are free and open to the public during normal business hours\, closed Sundays & Mondays

DESCRIPTION:Visitors can usually expect to shop for local\, farm-fresh produce\, meats\, free-range eggs\, a wide variety of baked goods\, jams and jellies\, salsas\, marinated olives and olive oils\, annual and perennials\, fresh cut flowers\, local honey\, locally-roasted coffee\, handmade soap\, a variety of quality\, locally created artisan items and crafts\, cheeses\, and much more! \nThe market normally welcomes anywhere from 25-40 vendors each Saturday. There is no charge for admission\, free parking\, and handicap accessibility. The market still features live music and freshly prepared breakfast for purchase each Saturday (another way of supporting local artists\, nonprofits and local businesses).

DESCRIPTION:Bring the whole family and celebrate America’s birthday\, Sykesville-style! Parade floats will be judged\, and awards for floats will be announced after the parade. SUMMARY:Battle of Westminster - "Corbit's Charge"
DESCRIPTION:Each June\, we commemorate the tragedy of war that took place on Westminster’s streets and within surrounding Carroll County\, MD. This annual event creates an educational experience for visitors of all ages\, with military demonstrations\, Civil War arms and equipment\, military drilling\, children’s activities and games\, and presentations from historians. Guided tours of Westminster detailing historic landmarks and battle sites are featured at the event as well. \nThe paramount activity is a memorial service held at the Corbit’s Charge Monument (Located at Court Place\, by the Historic Courthouse). This service recognizes the sacrifice of the Civil War era civilians of Westminster as well as the soldiers of both the Union and Confederate Armies. This service concludes at the graveyard of Westminster’s Ascension Episcopal Church located at 23 N. Court St. with the laying of wreaths on the graves of 2 Civil War Veterans: 1st Lt. John Murray\, Co. E 4th Virginia Cavalry (Confederate\, killed during Corbit’s Charge) and Samuel Butler Co. C 32nd Inf. U.S.C.T. (Union). \nSo\, please join the Pipe Creek Civil War Roundtable and fellow historical groups in attendance at the Corbit’s Charge event to honor and commemorate the Civil War history in Carroll County\, MD. \nThis program is made possible by a grant from the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area\, a certified heritage area of the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority.
