SUMMARY:Fine Tuned Presents: Skribe & Anthony Frijia
DESCRIPTION:About Skribe:\n“Skribe plays an oil can called a canjo-zookie. It’s an eight-string guitar with a biting\, blues-y rasp. Skribe’s got the voice (and the old-school Cadillac) to match. Accompanying himself on the suitcase-kick and hi-hat\, Skribe’s “M.I.Y.” is a barn-burning roots number.” \n– Ben Naddaff-Hafrey NPR \nYou may have recently seen Skribe supporting G. Love & Special Sauce\, Darius Rucker\, Jon Cleary\, Lucy Dacus\, Jake Clemons (of the E Street Band)\, Patrick Sweaney\, Langhorne Slim\, Lydia Loveless\, Shovels & Rope\, Samantha Fish\, Grizfolk\, Joe Pug\, The Last Bandoleros\, Zach Deputy\, Suitcase Junket\, and Possessed By Paul James… \nAbout Anthony Frijia:\nAnthony Frijia has mastered the art of creating live shows that feel more like intimate conversations than performances. \nRecently voted “Baltimore’s Best Local Artist” in the Baltimore Reader’s Poll\, he knows it’s these intimate conversations to which he owes all of his success as an artist. \nFusing folk\, blues\, and country influences\, Frijia’s lyrically-driven songwriting has captivated audiences along the east coast and across the country as a touring artist\, drawing comparisons to Bob Dylan\, Todd Snider\, and Tyler Childers. Anthony has released four studio records- each showing his evolution as both a songwriter and as a touring artist. His knack for quick wit and a great lyric have never been more evident than on his most-recent\, and first-ever\, live release\, “The Snuggery Sessions (Live)”\, recorded in Williamsport\, MD to end his solo cross-country tour\, and released in October 2025.

SUMMARY:Fine Tuned Arts Fund Presents: Enslow\, Jeff Draco\, Daphne Eckman Duo
DESCRIPTION:This multi genre indie concert features star-bound regional musicians returning to Carroll County for two special purposes:\n1) The very first concert at the brand new Wakefield Valley Park Events Center\n2) The official launch of the Fine Tuned Arts Fund \nAbout the Fine Tuned Arts Fund:\nThe Fine Tuned Arts Fund supports the mission of Fine Tuned through concerts\, educational programs\, and other music events in Carroll County. Your tax-deductible contribution to this fund supports inspiration\, engagement\, and opportunity in the Carroll County music community. \nAbout the Artists:\nEnslow is “The Princess of Pop in Baltimore” – and though she’s championed by the city\, she hails from the county. Carroll County. Enslow and her five piece band stylishly blend pop\, rock\, country\, and soul sounds. For Fans Of: Chappell Roan\, Taylor Swift\, Maggie Rodgers\, Fleetwood Mac. Listen to “Brandy” Live at DC9. \nJeff Draco has become a stalwart of the Washington\, DC music scene. Hailing from Mount Airy\, his dreamy bedroom-pop songs launched him into the D.C. music scene\, where he’s remained a staple ever since. He’s crossed through surf-pop with songs like “Dreamgirl” (which has amassed over 800\,000 streams on Spotify)\, Shoegaze\, Indie rock\, Alternative\, and recently has returned to bedroom pop styles with newest release “Excess”. \nDaphne Eckman is an indie-folk songwriter from Annapolis. She performed at the very first Fine Tuned show and has remained an all-time favorite of the community since. Eckman stretches contrast through her songwriting: her songs are humorous and crushing\, uplifting and depressing. Real. We’re glad to have her back. Especially because people ask every month “when’s Daphne coming back to play another show?” \nMany thanks to the City of Westminster and the Community Foundation of Carroll County for your support.

SUMMARY:Box Lunch Talk: Springfields Iron & Copper Mining Legacy
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Johnny Johnsson. \nGeorge Patterson’s “Springfield Estate” (where ACTS-Fairhaven formerly Integrace/EMA is located) once hosted significant 19th-Century iron and copper mines. Initially\, iron ore was mined to supply the Elba Furnace in Sykesville. Then rich copper ore was discovered and the mines prospered for a time during the 1850s & 60s. We will recount some details of the history of these interesting mines through maps\, photos\, text\, & discussion. \nJohnny Johnsson received his B.S. in mining engineering from Virginia Tech in 1985. He later acquired his Professional Engineer’s License and earned his M.B.A. at the University of Baltimore.  He is responsible for environmental permitting and compliance in Maryland\, Pennsylvania\, and Delaware for Vulcan Materials\, a major aggregates and concrete manufacturer. Mineral collecting as a youngster led to his career and to an interest in mining history\, particularly the mining and manufacture of chromium\, copper\, and iron related to Maryland’s Tyson family. Johnny serves as a Volunteer Ranger at the Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area\, a serpentine barren near Reisterstown with historic chrome mines\, one of several locations where he conducts interpretive mining history hike programs. Johnny has published several papers on local mining history. He resides in Finksburg\, Maryland with his wife Dawn and three children. \nAs always\, there is no registration for Box Lunch Talks. You bring your lunch\, and we provide the drinks and desserts (thanks to our volunteers and staff). The cost is $3 for HSCC members and $5 for nonmembers.
