35th Annual Blacksmith Days

May 18 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The 35th annual blacksmith days event for the Blacksmith Guild of Central Maryland. One of this year’s demonstrators is Ted Banning. He will demonstrate making a planishing hammer and then use the hammer to make a bowl. The second demonstrators are a husband and wife collaboration in steel and glass. Red and Jacob Selmer will demonstrate at the same time in glass and metal.  Jacob will discuss planning a complex project, and forge a tree of life in steel.  There will be branches for each of the 4 seasons.  Red will demonstrate hot glass working in the torch to create seasonal details.  Come see the mixed media display come together, watch a wide variety of techniques, and learn about hot glass working.

Our 1st forging contest will be a sculpture incorporating a Human Form. Our 2nd forging contest will require a mix of media. Details will be available soon.
