OUTDOOR RECREATION

AGRITOURISM

Beyond food there are also ample opportunities to explore the ‘family-fun’ side of agriculture.

BIKE ROUTES

Welcome to biking in Carroll County… where 10 loop tours, consisting of over 150 miles of cycling, offer varying degrees of difficulty. Our bike routes provide the recreational cyclist a unique view of scenic back roads while highlighting scenic stops and historic attractions.

HIKING TRAILS

There are ten public hiking trails within the confines of Carroll County. Since the county’s landscape generally consists of rolling hills, not mountain ranges, each of the hiking areas are accessible to people who are looking for a good workout rather than a steep challenge.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Several miles of multiuse trails are available in the Union Mills Reservoir Area, Piney Run Park, Gillis Falls Reservoir Area, Patapsco Valley State Park- Morgan Run Natural Environment Area and McKeldin Areas, as well as Liberty Reservoir.

FISHING

Excellent trout fishing amid the rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes of Carroll County Maryland. Some of our parks even offer handicapped accessible fishing grounds, courtesy of Project Access.

GOLF

Our gently rolling hills add to the fun and challenge of a round of golf with friends or business associates. Bring the family along to enjoy an afternoon of miniature golf or get in some practice on our beautiful driving ranges.

PARKS

Many of the local parks are used for recreational sports for the youth of Carroll County. However, there are several parks that provide a quiet, outdoor setting for picnicking and quiet reflection in an outdoor setting. The Community Pond, off of Rt. 140, attracts ducks and geese from far and wide. It also provides an accessible playground for youngsters. Piney Run Park and Hashawha Environmental Center both provide interesting nature centers.
