Start at Taneytown Memorial Park and head toward Littlestown, PA. Wind through a rustic area where deer and pheasants abound, and stop & listen to the rippling of Big Pipe Creek. Stop at the eateries along Main Street.
Taneytown | 30.5 miles (Medium-Hard)
This tour starts at Taneytown Memorial Park where a public pool and picnic grounds offer warm weather possibilities. Wind through the alleys of Taneytown and past the beautiful Fish and Game Club.
Westminster North | 28.9 miles (Very-Hard)
This northern route out of Westminster will surprise you with the diversity of suburban, rural, and historical elements in the County. If you ride in the morning, be prepared to stop for early milking migration of cows in the farmlands.
Westminster South | 15.1 miles (Medium-Hard)
The last leg of this tour brings you past the Carroll County Farm Museum, a 140-acre restored farm house, petting zoo, and grounds where thousands of visitors enjoy festivals, fireworks, and a trip back in time.
Hampstead | 13.9 miles (Very Hard)
A challenging tour with dozens of natural invitations to stop and enjoy meadows and pastures. Plan to refresh yourself at an old fashioned country store with homemade ice cream cones that still come tall, rich and creamy.
Mount Airy | 11.1 miles (Medium Hard)
A close look at the heart of Mount Airy followed by refreshing pastoral valleys, panoramic ridges and lush farmland. The B&O Railroad and the Patapsco River define the southern-most boundary.
Union Bridge | 15.9 miles (Medium Hard)
This western slip of moderately hilly terrain hugs the boundary line between Carroll and Frederick Counties, then branches out through New Windsor. Your ride flattens out for the last stretch back to Union Bridge.
New Windsor | 8.0 miles (Recreational)
Wind through beautiful Wakefield Valley on your way past Robert Strawbridge’s Home (birthplace of American Methodism). This ride offers splendid scenery and picturesque 18th-19th century homes.
Sykesville | 33.6 miles (Very Hard)
Piney Run Park and Reservoir lie just a short jaunt off MD 26. You’ll enjoy a diversity of sites and scenery on this challenging tour that takes you on and off of the “old blue highways.”
Manchester | 18.2 miles (Very Hard)
Passing one of the highest points in Carroll County, this challenging tour in Northeastern Carroll County presents a blend of small towns and farms complete with the natural scenic beauty of streams, woods, and wildlife.

Welcome to biking in Carroll County… where 10 loop tours, consisting of over 150 miles of cycling, offer varying degrees of difficulty. Our bike tours provide the recreational cyclist a unique view of scenic back roads while highlighting scenic stops and historic attractions.
Cyclists are encouraged to assess the relative physical conditions of the roads for safety. Furthermore, traffic volume and speed can vary greatly with time of day and day of the week. Therefore, these factors must be evaluated by each cyclist when determining route safety.
And, if you want to explore our County further, consider an overnight stay at one of our quaint B&Bs or our reasonably priced hotels. When you finish your ride or need a break, stop by one of the many restaurants, coffee shops, or bakeries along our Main Streets for a relaxing meal or a take-away lunch.
