Join the Friends of Hashawha Bear Branch and the Carroll County Master Gardeners for an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 18 from 10am to 2pm at the Bear Branch Nature Center in Westminster. This is a FREE educational and fun-filled day full of activities available for all to enjoy. Learn about the many ways YOU can help protect and preserve the Earth for the future. Information about pollinators, Bay-Wise, and monarch butterflies will also be on display. Participate in the Scavenger Hunt that highlights some of the wildlife that lives at the Nature Center.

Here are a few things you’ll find from the Carroll County Master Gardeners!
-Scavenger Hunt: Learn about some of the wildlife that lives at the Nature Center. Complete the hunt, turn in your answers and pick up a reward at the prize table.
-Children’s Room: Recycled games along with instructions for making them at home will be available. Garden supplies and wildlife support materials made from recycled materials will be on display with instructions to make them at home.
-Plant Clinic: Get answers to gardening questions from Master Gardeners.
-Bay-Wise: Most Maryland residents live within a half mile of a storm drain, stream, or river. Learn about how what we do to maintain our own landscapes can affect the health of our local waterways, the Chesapeake Bay, and our environment.
-Native Plant Information – Looking for native plants that you and pollinators will love? Interested in tips and tricks for caring for your garden and lawn? Want to plan or redesign your garden but need a suggestion or two? The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation has free material just for you!
-Free Plant Seeds: Packaged by the Carroll County Master Gardeners; information on seed saving.
