On June 27, 2026, The Pipe Creek Civil War Round Table in partnership with the Historical Society of Carroll County will commemorate the tragedy of war that took place on Westminster’s streets as well as the surrounding Carroll County, Maryland area. This year’s event will feature a Memorial Service at the Corbit’s Charge Monument, a Graveside Service in the historic Ascension Churchyard, a guided tour of the historic sites around Westminster relating to Corbit’s Charge, a guided tour of the historic Shellman House, and a presentation on the Battle of Westminster, aka “Corbit’s Charge.” This event provides a great educational experience for visitors of all ages.
