Monday, May 19th, 7 pm at Grace United Church of Christ, Parish Hall, 49 W Baltimore Street, Taneytown, Md. There will be a brief business meeting followed by the guest speaker, Elaine Shirley, Curator of Carroll County Farm Museum. She will talk about horn and the uses for horn before modern plastics. Horn was used everywhere and by everybody. She will also talk about oxen, what they are and why important. Oxen are everywhere and important part of agriculture. Elaine grew up on a dairy farm in Union Mills. She attended Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture and worked 35+ years for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Elaine led the Rare Breeds program for Coach and Livestock, caring for and interpreting to visitors about sheep, cattle and poultry and their place in history.
