Join HSCC on Saturday, January 14, 2023, as we celebrate Carroll County’s 186th birthday! The commemoration of Carroll County’s “birthday” began in the 1920s with a group called the Carroll County Society of Baltimore County. These descendants of Carroll Countians organized to promote “an appreciation of the history, traditions and pleasant memories of Carroll County.”

Author Diane Boettcher has contributed to the restoration of the Ellsworth Cemetery in Westminster. As part of this important project, Diane annotated the 1900 edition of the Reverend John Baptist Snowden’s autobiography for modern audiences. She will share history about Snowden’s journey from enslavement to ministry and fatherhood, as well as share other stories of
