Keynote Address: The Struggle for Culp’s Hill at Gettysburg
While often overshadowed today by Pickett’s Charge, Devil’s Den, Little Round Top and other parts of the Battle of Gettysburg, Culp’s Hill was once among the most popular areas for the earliest visitors to the Battlefield. Dave Booz will recount the dramatic, sanguinary, and strategically significant fighting that occurred on July 2 and 3 for control of Culp’s Hill. Sitting at the barb of the “fishhook” of the Union line, Culp’s Hill was one of the few places in the Civil War where Unionist and Confederate Marylanders engaged directly on the battlefield, including men from Carroll County, including men from Carroll County.
